4-Paw Dog Toy Rating System
Buddy’s Dog Toy Reviews uses a proprietary 4-paw rating system. The rating system is based on a complex formula that weighs a toys durability, resilience, cleanliness, overall value and fun factor to create a numerical ranking from 1 to 4 paws, 4 paws being the highest rating observed. A description of each rating level follows below:
- 4-Paw – Highest possible rating level. Dog toys that achieve this rating have proven themselves to be durable enough for very powerful chewers. While every dog toy, including a 4-paw rated toy, has its breaking point, these dog toys last long enough and kept Buddy’s attention long enough to justify the price.
- 3-Paw – Dog Toys that achieve a 3-Paw rating are acceptable for medium to strong chewers. These toys are deemed safe, meaning that they imploded in such a way that there was reasonably low choking or strangulation risk.
- 2-Paw – Dog Toys in receipt of a 2-Paw rating are likely acceptable for small dogs or dogs that have little interest in chewing. These products would be unsafe for larger dogs or stronger chewers due to large chunks breaking off or other health hazards. Due to the non-durable characteristics of these dog toys, a mess is likely as well.
- 1-Paw – The lowest rating bestowed upon a dog “toy.” A 1-paw rated toy is equivalent to giving your dog the cash you would have spent buying the toy in the first place and letting him or her eat it. These toys are of poor quality, durability or safety. These dog toys should be avoided if for no other reason to encourage pet product manufacturers to stop making garbage.
Ratings with respect to pet products other than dog toys will be in keeping with the spirit of the toy ratings. Products are rated based on quality and value.
